What We Collect

If You Just Browse

We use Google Analytics to understand how people use this site—which pages resonate, where people drop off, basic stuff. Yes, it's ironic. We're using a Google product on a site about escaping Big Tech.

Here's our justification: we're a tiny operation trying to build a movement. We need to know if this site is working. GA tells us that without us having to build our own analytics. We don't run ads, we don't retarget you, and we don't share this data with anyone.

If you want to block it, use an ad blocker or browser extension like uBlock Origin. We respect that choice completely.

If You Sign the Pledge

We collect:

• Your name (or pseudonym—we don't verify)
• Your signature (drawn on the canvas)
• Which platforms you're quitting
• Your reasons for quitting (optional)
• Timestamp of when you signed

This data is stored securely and used only to display pledge counts and, if you consent, show your declaration publicly.

If You Sign Up for Updates

We collect your email address. That's it. We'll only email you about SignOff.Social. We never share your email. You can unsubscribe anytime.

What We Don't Do

• Build personal profiles about you
• Sell or share your data with anyone
• Use retargeting or remarketing ads
• Embed social media tracking pixels (Facebook, TikTok, etc.)
• Use fingerprinting or sneaky identification
• Connect your analytics data to your pledge data

Cookies

Google Analytics sets cookies to distinguish users and sessions. We also use minimal functional cookies for things like remembering if you've signed the pledge. We don't use cookies for advertising or retargeting.

You can block all cookies from this site and it will still work fine—you just might see the pledge form again.

Data Storage

Your data is stored on secure servers (Supabase) with encryption at rest and in transit. We retain pledge data indefinitely unless you request deletion. Email addresses are retained until you unsubscribe.

Your Rights

You can:

• Request a copy of any data we have about you
• Request deletion of your data
• Unsubscribe from emails at any time
• Ask us anything about how we handle data

Just email us. We'll respond within 48 hours.

Third Parties

We use:

• Google Analytics — Yes, the irony isn't lost on us. We use it to understand site traffic and improve the experience. We have IP anonymization enabled. We don't use it for ads. See their privacy policy. You can opt out here.
• Vercel — Hosts our website. They may collect basic server logs (IP addresses, timestamps). See their privacy policy.
• Supabase — Stores pledge data and emails. See their privacy policy.

We don't use Facebook Pixel, TikTok tracking, or any social media ad-tech services. No retargeting. No programmatic ads. Ever.

Children

This site is for everyone who wants to quit social media. We don't knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you're a parent and believe your child has submitted data, contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. We won't suddenly start tracking you—that would defeat the entire purpose of this project.
