Download your data first. Once deleted, it's gone forever. Grace period: 30 days (called 'deactivation period').

Download Your Data

Request Archive

Settings and Privacy → Your Account → Download an archive of your data

Verify Identity

Enter password and verify via email or phone if prompted

Request Download

Click 'Request archive'

4.
Wait for Email

Twitter/X will email you within 24-48 hours with a download link

Delete Your Account

1.
Go to Deactivation

Settings and Privacy → Your Account → Deactivate your account

Review Information

Read what deactivation means (it's actually deletion after 30 days)

3.
Enter Password

Confirm your password

4.
Click Deactivate

Click 'Deactivate' to start the 30-day countdown.

Called 'deactivation' but becomes permanent deletion after 30 days.
